Practice Room 2

Helen Bazzard

is an Integrative and Transpersonal Psychotherapist who runs her private practice for counselling and psychotherapy from her custom-built garden room. She has lectured on therapy for various adult education courses including Sussex University and the Centre for Transpersonal Psychology.(CTP)

She teaches 'opening the imagination' and 'presentation skills' under her course 'Act Naturally.' Within this work, she also helps people with fear of public speaking by building self-confidence, skills and practice routines.

Completing her studies with the Centre for Transpersonal Psychology and the United Kingdom's Council for Psychotherapy's accreditation training, she began her therapy studies 19 years ago at the Philadelphia Association influenced by RD Laing. She then began her counselling practice at Brighton University alongside taking her post-graduate certificate in Pychodynamic Counselling at Sussex University.

During this time she married, had her daughter and qualified as a Healer. She continued with her Advanced Diploma in Transpersonal Psychotherapy at CTP before fully qualifying, finding the mix of intellectual and experiential material invaluable and inspirational. She became a Member of CTP's Council of Management for three years.

To deepen her studies and self-awareness she followed several residential courses, mainly in Ireland, experiencing Stanislav Grof's 'Holotropic Breathwork' meeting Grof himself when he came to her hometown of Brighton. Last year she went to Findhorn for a C. Myss weekend. She often attends the annual conferences of EUROTAS, for European Transpersonal Associations visiting France, Russia and Spain.

Having originally trained as a teacher in French and Drama, Helen spent her 20's and 30's writing, acting and singing for the fringe, TV, No 1 tours and a West End contract, eventually teaching acting professionally in Brighton at ACT, the Academy for Creative Training. She later also joined the teaching team at her daughter's primary school, The Dharma School, run on Buddhist principles.

Helen is fascinated by eclectic spirituality and is committed to exploring the nature of being. She is a member of St Peter's Church, Firle, runs Firle Choir and appeared on Revd Peter Owen-Jones programme, 'Living Simply.'

Her philosophy suits many clients and she adheres to the UKCP Ethical Framework that includes a requirement concerning confidentiality.

Helen Bazzard offers counselling and therapy to a wide cross-section of the community in Brighton, Lewes and Sussex.
